Residents of The Hunt Club estate in Cranbourne East are set to enjoy the convenience of retail facilities on their doorstep, with construction of the first stage of the Hunt Club Village shopping centre under way.

The project is being overseen by the Retail and Commercial Developments division of the Dennis Family Corporation, which manages the estate. The company awarded the building tender to Hallam-based Becon Constructions.

Hunt Club Village is the last remaining piece of major infrastructure at the popular estate, which will sell its final land blocks in 2015. Stage One of the project comprises 9,000sqm of retail facilities to be prominently located on the perimeter of The Hunt Club estate on the corner of Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road and Linsell Boulevard.

“We are delighted that construction on the Hunt Club Village project has commenced,” Dennis Family Retail and Commercial Developments Director, Marshall Dennis comments.

“It has been a lengthy process to gain all the necessary approvals and reach a sustainable commercial outcome. However, the end result will be a centre that exceeds our original expectations,” he adds.

Hunt Club Village will feature Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets as anchor tenants, to be supported by a variety of specialty shops.

“Residents at The Hunt Club are looking forward to having shopping facilities within close walking distance, particularly those living at the Hunters Green Retirement Village which is directly adjacent to the site,” Mr Dennis observes.

In awarding the building contract to Becon Constructions, Dennis Family Retail and Commercial Developments was impressed by the local company’s experience and capability.

“Becon has been operating for thirty years and can demonstrate a proven history of success in commercial projects of this nature. We have full confidence in their ability to deliver the Hunt Club Village in accordance with our requirements,” Mr Dennis says.                   

Becon Constructions Managing Director, Bruce Eddington says his company is looking forward to showcasing its work capability close to home.

“We do a lot of work throughout greater Victoria and interstate, but it’s always nice to be able to show people what we can do locally,” he states.

“Having also built the nearby Marriott Waters retail facilities, pursuing this project at The Hunt Club was a logical progression for us. It is a job that suits us well. Not only is it a great site, but it is also advantageous be working at a well developed estate that has a lot of infrastructure already in place.”

Site preparation commenced in November, initially comprising bulk earthworks followed by the establishment of foundations in December.

“Residents will see the structure starting to take shape during February when the pre-cast concrete panels and steelwork will start to be erected,” Mr Eddington notes.

The delivery target for the completion of Stage One of the Hunt Club Village project is less than twelve months.

“There is a lot to do, but we are well on our way and are comfortable with the timeframe and we are looking forward to working with the Dennis family,” Mr Eddington concludes.

Inside your centre

Stage One of Hunt Club Village will include two supermarkets – Woolworths and Aldi – as anchor tenants, supported by 17 specialty shops. 

Fitzroys Pty Ltd has been appointed as the leasing and managing agents of the Hunt Club Village.
