10 Simple Steps To Building

Buying land and building your home can be quite daunting if you haven’t been through the process before. Choosing and building your dream home should be fun – not stressful!

1. Select your house and land

You may do this together as a package or separately – but make sure you choose land that will comfortably fit the size of the house you want to build. Our helpful sales team are on hand to help guide you through the process.

2. Arrange your finance

Meet with your lender and confirm your borrowing capacity and ability to repay your loan.

3. Purchase your block

Negotiate terms with your land seller, pay deposits and consult with your solicitor to confirm your land settlement.

4. Get your building proposal

Your home builder will prepare an itemised new home proposal that reflects your choice of finishes and any extras or customizations.

5. Test your soil

As soon as a small contract preparation fee is paid to your builder, they will arrange a soil test and site report. That helps determine the site costs so a Home Building Contract can be finalised.

6. Sign your contract

Once the contract is prepared, you will sign it and pay the balance of your deposit.

7. Get your permits

The builder will lodge a building permit application, pay the associated fees and arrange sewer and mains connection on your behalf.

8. Build your home

Your builder should keep you informed throughout the process, and arrange regular site visits so you can check on the building progress.

9. Move your family in

The builder will arrange a time for the final handover, to tour your new home and explain all its features.

10. Enjoy your home

Once settled in, enjoy everything your brand new home offers. Your family will love it!
